Trailer Training Insurance
In January 1997 a new driving test was introduced, the B+E car and trailer test.
Some eleven years on, the current generation of new drivers are only entitled to tow a small trailer, i.e. one where the combined Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) of the car and trailer is less than 4.25 tonnes with the trailer MAM not exceeding 750kg.
OR 3.5 tonnes if the trailer MAM exceeds 750kg - but not the unladen weight of the towing vehicle.
Any larger trailer, horsebox, caravan, mobile catering unit etc, and the new licence holder will need to take the B+E test. A growing number of people are turning to specialist instructors to help them to the required qualification in order to fulfil their leisure or employment ambitions.
Since 2001, we have been able to provide specialist Trailer Training Insurance, covering a wide range of towing vehicles. From Mitsubishi Warriors and Animals to the faithful Landrover Discovery, and more recently,some mid-weight vans such as Toyota Hi Aces.
As an extension of this cover, we can also cater for the specialist 4x4 off road training vehicles, and at a slightly more sedate pace, vehicles used for C1 and D1 training.

Category C1 and D1 Driver Training
Since January 1997, new driving licence holders have not been provided with an automatic C1 and D1 entitlement.
If a new licence holder wishes to drive a small lorry or medium size goods vehicle between 3.5 tonnes and 7.5 tonnes, or a mini bus with between 9 and 16 seats, they will have to take an additional test.
Many are finding they are required to obtain either a C1 or D1 entitlement in order to progress in their employment and are seeking help in achieving this.
