Chelmsford Insurance Centre took over the model railway insurance scheme previously managed by Gerald Clapp of Grosvenor Manx International Ltd in 2006.We have now had 12 months of trading and we have learnt a lot along the way!
Sterling Insurance Company Ltd are currently underwriting the Model Railway Protection Insurance policy and many of the benefits have now been enhanced.

- All risks cover for the rolling stock and layouts both in the Home and on a UK basis
- Contents in an unattended vehicle cover - maximum £2000
- Public liability £2,000,000 or £5,000,000 on application
- Cover for clubs/societies/individuals
- Cover for the clubhouses and their contents
- Extended cover abroad for Europe
- Events -cover for liability, exhibits in your custody and control at a show

1.Small model railway collections up to £3000 value
CIC Insurance can now issue cover for personal collections up to a minimum £3000
in value.
The annual premium will be £36.75 is the lowest premium
on the market (including insurance premium tax)
Don't assume your home contents policy covers your collection-unless you have either specifically advised your home contents insurers of your collection or you have a specialist high net worth home contract then your collection could be uninsured and at risk.
Most home insurers do not extend cover for you to take your collection to club meetings and you may also need to extend the cover to all risks including accidental damage and loss.
There may be restrictions on the maximum amount you can claim for any one item.
When did you last conduct an inventory of your collection?
